African Fashion International and Samsung launches South Africa’s first fashion magazine television series on SABC3.

Johannesburg: African Fashion International and Samsung bring you “African Couture” in association with SABC3.

South Africa is finally set to get its first (and long overdue) fashion magazine television show which will bring fashion ‘from the catwalks to your couch’.

The weekly half hour series will attract large audiences to African fashion in a way that provides non-stop, stylish and sophisticated television viewing for anyone with a passion for fashion.

In the spotlight when African Couture makes its debut on SABC 3 on Saturday September 6th will be African fashion, designers, models, hair and makeup artists, commentary from experts and opinion-makers, access behind the scenes, celebrity style, drama, excitement, local brands, up-and-coming faces, latest industry innovations and much more.

These are just some of the many visual pleasures and entertaining elements that make up African Couture – South Africa’s only, and first, fashion magazine television show!

“The intention is to promote and elevate the local fashion industry and all of its stakeholders to a huge audience on a consistent and regular basis,” says Paul Jackson, CEO of African Fashion International (AFI), the executive producers behind this South African first.

AFI is also the powerhouse that has propelled Audi Joburg Fashion Week Autumn/Winter, MTN Durban Fashion Week, Virgin Mobile Cape Town Fashion Week and Joburg Fashion Week Spring/Summer into the benchmark for domestically-rooted, but globally-aware fashion events.

“We know that South Africans across the country are fashion-forward and would love to get a weekly fashion fix in a way that’s accessible and covers the fashion industry, both in front of the cameras and also behind the scenes” Paul Jackson explains. “African Couture will put local designers, fashion business and related role players in the spotlight, whilst also providing ongoing information about the latest fashion trends, fashion landscape, innovations, ideas, products and fashion news, and all with a unique home grown feel that locates it firmly on African soil, yet with a distinct international flavour.”

African Couture will be shot on location, utilising only High Definition technology and will not feature an anchor presenter. “We want the focus to be very much on the designers, models, media, and all aspects of the fashion business and industry - the show content will carry the series” Paul Jackson says.
