VIRGIN MOBILE CONNECTS WITH CAPE TOWN FASHION WEEK

Cape Town, 2nd June 2008 – A leading stylish mobile company, Virgin Mobile, secured the headline sponsorship of acclaimed Cape Town Fashion Week, to be officially renamed “Virgin Mobile Cape Town Fashion Week” with immediate effect.

Virgin Mobile Cape Town Fashion Week takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from the 13th – 16th August 2008 in what promises to be a major highlight in the 2008 fashion calendar.

“At Virgin Mobile we are excited about the partnership with African Fashion International as it strategically allows us to expand our association with fashion.  This partnership provides us with a platform that brings us closed to our fans, and the Virgin Mobile Cape Town Fashion Week is the beginning of great things to come,” said Peter Boyd, CEO of Virgin Mobile SA.

The event will feature the nation’s most coveted emerging and established fashion designers previewing their Spring/Summer collections to buyers, media, fashionistas and VIP’s. For the first time, the event’s opening day will be presented by the Cape Town Fashion Council, and will feature specially selected and carefully curated new designers showing for the first time.

Says Paul Jackson, CEO of African Fashion International (owners of the event): “Virgin Mobile Cape Town Fashion Week will present some of the nation’s most gifted fashion designers as they reveal their latest collections for the upcoming spring/summer season. We are delighted to partner with a global and iconic brand like Virgin Mobile who clearly understands fashion, individuality and style from both a national and international perspective”.

The Virgin Mobile Cape Town Fashion Week will take place over 4 days in a purpose-built venue in two halls at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Once again brace yourself for packed houses as huge demand makes fashion show tickets the most sought after commodity in town. Cape Town is once again expected to come alight every evening as renowned designers celebrate their collection launches with bespoke after parties at selected venues across the city.

Owners and organisers, African Fashion International, have established a strong reputation for producing internationally recognised and industry relevant platforms which champion the cause for African fashion.
